Hello Everyone!

Welcome to Underwood Education Connection.  I'm Alvia and I'm an Alabama native.  Previously, I lived in Ohio and now I reside in the Sunshine State - Florida.  For my professional career, I work for the Department of Defense with Child and Youth Programs and I absolutely love what I do!  Being in my position has afforded me opportunities to learn so much about the development of children from birth to 18 years of age.  Additionally, working for the Department of Defense has given me the opportunity to serve the military community and the unique challenges that come with the military lifestyle (deployments, multiple moves, etc.)

It is my hope that, through this blog, we will be able to share our experiences and knowledge pertaining to children!  Happy Blogging!

    Hello Alvia!
    I too have been working with the CYP- October will make 8 years! I read you comment on the Blog links Board as well and find it lovely to meet another CYP professional! Have you "met" Alecia? She's a T&C in Guam. Honestly, I haven't come across any other CYP professional throughout my online education.
    CYP has been my only experience with ECE and I must say that I'm very grateful for the opportunity to work for such a wonderful program! I've learned so much through my initial week of training but also through the hands on experience I've had at both the CDC and the SAC programs. CYP and MWR has really helped me to grow as a professional!

      Hi Amy! I just hit my 6 year mark this summer. I have not met Alecia yet. I went to a conference in April where all of the T & Cs met but it was only for Air Force so if she's with another branch, I wouldn't have met her! I too love working with CYP through DoD!

    Hi Alvia,
    I hope to read more in future posts. I enjoy learning about child development and hope to continue learning about it. It provides some unique opportunites. Are you in the military or are you a civilian?
